Do you have a television and WiFi?

We are situated approximately 4,500 ft above sea-level. Mist and clouds are very much part of the environment. Television, WiFi, and telephone signals do not work on a consistent basis, and as such, we do not have a television in any of the cottages.

We have set up complimentary WiFi. However, again, the mist and clouds make it very difficult to have strong signals at the cottages. WiFi can be accessed at the Manager's Office, but the signal can be intermittent.

Could you organize a tour for me through Sri Lanka?

Yes, we can. Just let us know if you are interested in us organizing a tour – whether around Sri Lanka or just the Haputale and Uva region, and we will work with you to organize a tour that meets your needs.ermittent.

Can you pick me up from the airport and take me to Kelburne Mountain View?

Yes, we can. Just indicate that you would like this done when you make your reservation. We’ll be able to quote you the price then as well.

What should I pack?

Pack what you would normally pack when travelling to a tropical country – cotton/linen t-shirts, trousers, shorts, skirts, sandals, sneakers, bathing suit, etc. In addition, remember to bring your sunglasses, a hat, and some mosquito repellent. However, don’t forget to bring a sweater or light jacket for the windy and cooler climates!

What can I do while I’m there?

There is a lot to do in Haputalé. In fact, CNN listed Haputalé in their article ‘Unseen Asia: 25 of Asia’s most overlooked destinations’ (April 20, 2010).

You can make day trips to: Lipton’s Seat, Dambetenne Tea Factory, Haputalé and Bandarawela Town, Udawalawe National Park, Yala National Park, Buduruwagala, Maligawila, Kataragama, Diyaluma Waterfalls, Ravana Ella, and many more sites.

You can also relax in the cottages, wander around the tea estate or into the nearby town, visit the local pola or fair, read a book, play some board games, or ‘leave your mark’.

When is the best time to visit Haputalé?

The best time to visit Haputalé is from March to August. Of course you can visit during the other months, but you may experience some rain and mist.

Please note that the peak season months in Sri Lanka are December, January, February, March, April, May, and August, during which time advanced reservations are advisable.

What is the weather like?

Sri Lanka is a tropical island and has both dry and wet seasons. While the sun shines continuously year-round, there are two monsoons that hit the island every year – the South-West monsoon in May to October, and the North-East monsoon from October to January. So, regardless of when the monsoon hits, there is always somewhere to visit in Sri Lanka!

The climate in Haputalé, at approximately 5,000ft, can be cooler than its surroundings because of its elevation.
